☆ MULTI-GENERATIONAL HOUSING
In order to create a sense of belonging and community that spans multiple generations, I used music as a driving concept for my design choices. Music serves as the universal language between various cultures. I set the tempo of the complex by creating a rigid structural framework. I then insert screens of concrete, translucent glass, and transparent glass in order to create a sense of privacy or exposure. The private spaces bleed into the outdoor public spaces to begin to blur the lines between the private and the semi-public. The spaces begin to suspend and create vantage points that overview a large public music performance space that offers a connection with the citizens of Phoenix, Arizona.
